I'm Carlie Slattery
I’ve had a lifelong love affair with the written word, so you could say I’m mixing business with pleasure.
I worked in newspapers for 15 years as a sub-editor, contributing to dozens of titles, from big daily metro papers to small weekly community ones. I firmly believe that every word, no matter where it is printed, should be treated with the same professionalism and care.
More recently, I’ve pivoted to include manuscripts in my repertoire and it’s been enormously fun and rewarding. I’m a work-in-progress fiction writer myself, so I understand the blood, sweat and tears that go into every work. It is such an honour to help authors bring their dreams to life.
I have a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) and have studied creative writing at university and through the Australian Writers' Centre. I'm a professional member of the Institute of Professional Editors in Australia, which means clients can have peace of mind that my credentials and experience have been vetted and confirmed by a governing body.
Outside work, I'm busy raising children with my husband and enjoying life in beautiful Northern NSW.
I love coffee, dogs, chilly days, long lunches and a cracking true crime podcast.
REST ASSURED, YOUR WORDS ARE SAFE WITH ME.
TITLES I HAVE WORKED ON:
The work takes place, quite literally,
No, the name has nothing to do with a certain fictional young wizard.
It refers to my office location — in my home, under my staircase. A remote office means I can work for you, any time, no matter where you are.
